My ute is a 2007 Nissan Navara D40 rx, 6sp manual, 17" mag wheels, genuine Nissan towbar, ARB winch suitable bullbar, reverse camera, DVD/gps head unit with blue tooth, USB, iPod connectivity, dark tinted windows, sportsbar & 117000klns

Am considering doing a straight swap for a .....

2001 GU II ST with 179000klm, all standard accessories + dual battery set up. Paint alittle faded but nothing a good polish wouldn't fix.

What are your thoughts??????

If it was a 4.2L I'd probably go for it if it was mine. Those earlier 3.0L engines don't have a good reputation, I've got a work mate who had two of them blow up on him and now he drives a 60 series!

I seem to recall you work in a dealership? Perhaps you are better placed than some of us to come up with an objective market value for both the 'troll and the Navara?

If it were me, I'd want to know if that 'troll is in the group that had so many engine problems.

Then there is the question of what it is worth to you - which for me comes back to how closely it matches what you want to do with it. I can see some applications where only the TD42 will do. Maybe pm katwoman and snicko. Katwoman is in the process of selling Katrol, which is a lovely and much loved turbo diesel 'troll, to buy a TD42 of some sort. The reasons why may help your decision. Snicko on the other hand is vey happy with her non TD42 'troll.

I do work in a car dealership and have gotten the boys to get me wholesale prices on both the Navara & the Patrol which have come in at around $16-$17k each (WHOLESALE) its more the problems I wanna know about & to that end one of the mechanics here has a mate who works for Nissan (Service Mgr) and has left a message for him to call back ...

General feel from the boys here is to STAY AWAY from it but wanted opinions of others who live & breath trolls LOL thanks for the input - think ill just keep the Navara abit longer ..

keep the navara a bit longer,ive got the 02-03 model 3l and going ok

Stick to the navara you wont really gain much the navara can tow just as much and will be better on fuel

Yeah Nissan guy just rang back and he said the same - don't touch it!! SOOO I'll hold onto Frank abit longer for site now.

Guess I'll just have to spend more on him & make him alittle more useful (tonneau cover to start with) and then the lift, winch etc etc etc LOL

Hate Brad can go places in Amelia that I can't LMFAO!! He tells me Frank is just a widdle baby car

Yep, stay well clear of the early ZD30 DI Amelia, just asking for trouble mate.
Try and find a 4.2TD.
