So i just bought 35s. Im wondering whats best to change reduction gears in the gearbox or doing the diffs as i would like to run my 31s during the week? Or is it when or the other with the tires? Im not worried about the speedo side of things how ever im in the MIGHTY RB30 CARB and the massive power it dosnt make is incredible at present havnt decided on power mods yet injection with turbo or 5ltr.

If you plan to run 31s most of the time i would go reduction gears.
As for power upgrades the small amount you spend on an rb30 to turbo it and make it go would be minimal.
just to convert to a 5L holden would cost you more not to mention the gearbox change as well .
And the rb30 would still produce more power then the old 5l v8.

Went to a 4wd place today and the bloke said the rb30 already runs 46s in the diffs is this true? And he said I wouldn't need to the diffs then or the reduction gears to run my 35s can anyone confirm this

rb30 runs 4.3 diffs usually the rd28 is 4.6
check your tag on the firewall hh 43 or if it is 4.6 it will be hh46 etc
Might even be hg then the ratio

Hg43 is what I've got so I'll get 85% reduction gears and has anybody put these in them self before is it difficult?

Not difficult mate with the 85's you will need to grind the transfer case housing a little but as far as i know the instructions that come with the marks ones show you where to do this.

So I've decided to sell the 31s and run my 35s full time as I'm gonna be to lazy to change tread all the time ordered 46s for both diffs so that should cancel getting reduction gears? Or should I get them aswell?

manual states 5.4 or pickup 4.3
api gl-5*1 for the front

Rear 2.1 litres for the h233
Gear oil hypoid L.S.D.

Then their is the h260 diff used in utes etc 12 bolts
it takes 4.7 litres

Have you removed the axles? The 4.6's will bring it back into line for driving on road but depending on how extreme you go with your offroading I would still get a set possibly now the 43% instead of the 85%s

Yeah i intend on getting it pretty wild out there when it's done see how it goes for awhile and might look at getting the 43% reduction gears
