Hi, having issue with my wifes patrol. 4/92 y61 with zd30 turbo. I have no vacuum coming from the actuator solenoid. Have replaced MAF sensor. Correct vacuum coming from vacuum pump to solenoid. Vacuum hoses are fitted correctly. Battery volts on both sides of solenoid but I can't check square wave pattern to determine if pulsing but you can feel a very feint pulse through air hose. When direct vacuum is connected to Actuator it works so actuator is free and working. Car has lost power on take off and going up hills. I have no gauges connected but have ordered boost and Exhaust gauges for the vehicle. I will order dawes valve and needle valve on Monday to bypass system but need car for the weekend. Has anyone encountered solenoid failure on these or could it be an ecu issue? Turbo has no play and spins freely. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Clutching at straws here but are the VAC hoses in good nic. Disconnect battery for awhile as well, like I said clutching at straws, wouldn't think the ECU

Hey Threedogs,
Have inspected all vacuum hoses which are in good order. Cleaned all earth points. Disconnected Battery for 1 hour to reset. Removed ecu plug and cleaned all terminals, Cleaned terminals on any and all sensors. still no luck. Still think that it may be the actuator solenoid. Voltage across both terminals would indicate that the windings are ok but it appears that it is not pulling the plunger to block off the port a and transfer vacuum pressure from port c through port b to the actuator. Got me stuffed. May have to wait until Monday to borrow one and give that a go. Once again Thanks for your reply.

Update to thread. Have now fitted vacuum control solenoid off of a mates patrol with no luck. Still no vacuum out of solenoid to pull actuator arm. Does any one have a wiring and vacuum diagram for a nissan patrol 02 3ltr turbo diesel that they could email me my email is jjohn388@eq.edu.au. Sorry but i can't wait to get 25 posts up to be able to download service manual. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. As well as any other suggestions, I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks for the pic. Yeh the hoses are correct on the solenoid so back to the drawing board. I,m about to go and supply 12 volts from the battery direct to the solenoid to see if that changes the vacuum situation. Will keep people posted.

Your original idea from your first post seems the best . ordering gauges ,dawes and needle valve and bypassing system and while your at it block your egr . but in the mean time just steady as she goes and dont push it hard . Feel your pain - been there and done that .

Woo Hoo. Connected Patrol up to a square wave scope today. Identified that the computer was not switching the solenoid to ground. Back tested computer and found no power. Retraced wiring between computer and solenoid and found a break just under the inlet manifold. Repaired wiring and away it went. Yee Ha. One very happy wifee. Thanks for everyones help
