Hi all,
I have read how good and what a difference an air locker makes offroad but what does it do to the diff when not in use when I'm in L4.
In other words will the diff ( I'm thinking of getting front done ) be usless if the locker is not switched on or will it still preform as befor ? . Will I get any traction from the front when locker is off.
Cheers,
Ray.

Hi Trolatron. A diff that has a locker fitted will act as an "open" diff when the locker is not engaged. You cant have an L.S.D AND a locker.....

The front diff in a patrol is an open diff to start with so fitting a locker (and having it disengaged) will be the same as standard

If its your front diff it will operate exactly the same as it did before the locker went in. Very good decision doing the front as the rear LSD is pretty good in a patrol.

Thanks guys, I been watching my bus on video and both back wheels turn together and the front favours the left side and the right front just sits there watching the other 3 do all the work.

A few members here have fitted an Auto locker in the front and swear by them. What type of locker are you looking at Ray?

I would like an air locker for the advantage of turning it off and on but seeing how a lot of guys are loving their auto lockers I may go that way too.
But I like to be in 4h on the gravel roads and I here the auto locker can make that dificult.

Yeah i have to agree about being able to turn it off when you want. Its good to be able to turn it off when on a side hill. For me the e-lockers sound good. I think ill try to get one of those when im ready for a locker.
