Hay Gang.

As ppl have read I threw the timing belt on the GQ causing significant head damage.

So I have put the head back on post recon. The old girl starts and runs well. However I have noticed it is now blowing some blue smoke when cold (I know this means oil is being burt) Second to the smoke its making a ticking sound once up to speed, the sound comes and goes, but can easily be heard inside the cab.

Does anyone know what is causing these issues?

Cheers

Think I may have used to lighter oil, reading gregorys manual says should use 20W - 40. I used a 15W - 40, will this contribute to these issues?

Could be a zillion different things i run a 15w 40 in my rd28 never had any smoke issues.
After doing a head i would normally do an oil flush dump and filter change again after a few k's just incase any crud got into the sump.
The tick could also be a lifter not pumping up .

it will be a lifter and its not burning the fuel properly by the sounds of it

So what best option? Do I need take head off and take back to cylinder head joint?

Is their much oil in the breather from the rocker to the inlet and does it have a baffled catch can.

Think it sorted, did engine flush and oil change, also did fuel filter change, issue seems to be on improve, tick minimised and smoke reduced significantly. Will give it 500 - 1000k's and see where it at.
