I can't get the beast to go. I drove it to the shop yesterday and when I was parking, it turned itself off. I didn't think much of it. Went shopping with the missus and went to go home and it wouldn't start. Left it for 5 min and tried again and she started so I thought I'd see how far we could get. About 2 min up the road and she just stopped and won't start. I have checked all the fuses, she feels like she wants to go but just doesn't start. All wires look sound and secure and the batteries are fine. ??????? Air con still works, dash lights come on, radio works, head lights work and have plenty of power/brightness. Please let me know your thoughts.

Electrical problem, need to know what engine your running. Groote is a nice place... if your not a contractor for BHP.

She's a 3ltr 2000 model diesel, and yes Groote is a nice place and it even has it's challenges as a BHP employee.

Other things on the truck are 2" lift, blocked egr, needle and dawes Vv, provent catch can, 3" scotts rod exhaust, pillar pod with EGT and Boost gauges, 285 Bighorn muddies and a D-tronic chip. Everything else electrical seems fine. I've checked the glow plug sensor and that is working fine. I love chasing gremlins....

As stated above disconnect your Battery overnight which will clear codes.

Cleaned the MAF note that the MAF was changed about 12months ago after doing my turbo, have blocked the EGR since.
I have pulled every electrical connection apart and cleaned. I even pulled the one off the back of the injector pump control unit. I still can't seem to get any fault codes to flash up on the dash, the engine light just stay's on. I disconnected the battery's over night with no success.
If it's the injector's / injector pump what is the best way to check other than from the codes and will I require many specialty tools if I attemp to change myself.

New findings. Fault code IP7 and a Nissan patrol only code that wouldn't show up on machine. We sprayed CRC into the airbox and she started. I have also noticed that with the return line taken of the injector pump under the dip stick when I pump the fuel primer I can see small air bubbles as it comes out real slowly. Should I be looking for a cracked hose or am I just trying to delay the inevitable and change out the IP.????????????

I am sure i read somewhere about the fuel primers leaking on some models being a common fault.
The primer should stay firm sounds like you have a leak to me.
If you pump it up until it is firm does it start then ?

Nah tried pumping it whilst the missus turned it over. Nothing still.

How did you find it? Also if I disconnect the fuel line into the filter and crank the car should I get fuel coming out? Thanks for the tip.

Not normally. The majority of the fuel lines are steel so you may be able to see a rub through in this area although unlikely. Just replace the fuel hose that joins the metal lines and new hose clamps prob only need just over a metre of hose.

Does anyone know what fault turbo over boost mean's and how this would stop car from starting?

I have just swapped the brain out of the broken truck into the semi broken truck and I now have fault codes coming up on the dash. Not sure why that is??????? OK codes are 14 flashes and then 2 quick flashes and then 4 flashes followed by seven quick. These don't show up in my Mcgregor manual. Help please

Just finished reading thread on fault codes. Thanks YNOT, if I'm reading them correctly you have just help me crack the code. One is for anti theft and the other is crank angle sensor. Atleast I can now start fault finding with more of a view as to what it is.

Bumb steer.... After switching out the ecu I've found that the engine immobilizer light stays on and the fault codes are from the other truck I think. FFFFAAAAARRRRRRKKKKKKKK. I thought I was onto a winner. Is there any reason why fault codes wouldn't be coming up on the dash?

Well it's been nearly a week since I've been able to get back to the truck. I stayed up until 0200am and changed out the IP with no change to the symptoms. She is still trying to crank but just won't start. I've run out of options and not sure where to go next. Any idea's guy's?

Another day with new findings.....Today I have fuel at the injectors, you beauty, but still doesn't fire.. I also had a weird thing happen and that was that the glow plug relay just started clicking away for no reason all by itself. The key's weren't even in the ignition and when I put them in and turned the key it stopped and soon after the battery drained????????
Still at a loss as to the no bang theory but am now leaning towards timing as that is the only thing I may have changed since the IP was changed out. Any idea's???
I will also check out the ultra gauge thanks my third.

More to report,
It's alive!!!!! The beast is going and drives well except for one issue, the engine light is permanetly on. I haven't driven far as I'm not sure as to what it might be.

Would liike to say a big thanks to Garry from Nizzbits for supplying all parts required in record time. Great service. As for the beast she still lives but haven't had any luck getting the engine light off the dash. I enquired about the scan gauge II and was told that it wasn't compatible with my truck. Will have to keep looking.
