The Department of Sustainability and Environment advised 4WD Victoria on 9th July 2012, that they are reviewing the National Parks (Park) Regulations 2003 as these are due to expire, or ‘sunset’, on 24 June 2013. The regulations made under the National Parks Act 1975, apply to areas covered by the Act. It is also proposed to consolidate the National Parks (Cape Howe Marine National Park) regulations 2006 into the principle regulations.

If the new regulations are likely to result in a significant burden on the community, a Regulatory Impact statement (RIS) will be prepared. The RIS will be made available for public comment for a minimum of 28 days.

The department is interested in receiving comment about the existing regulations and their operation over the past 10 years, along with any issues and concerns that you would like to have considered in their review of the regulations. This is a very important opportunity for 4WD Victoria to put forward our comments on the proposed changes, and as such we would invite all Club Members, Club Officials, Regional Reps and Delegates to provide input to our submission by sending your comments to events@fwdvictoria.org.au by close of business on Friday 27th July, these will then be included in our comments to DSE which have to be submitted by 3rd August 2012.

For a copy of the regulations, or for further information about the review, please visit: www.dse.vic.gov.au/parks-and-reserves

They tried to close access along the Murray and failed , I remember the protest rally at Bacchus Marsh a few years back, 5000 4x4s rocked up, numbers talk, send your comments to 4WD vic the more the better, thats why we can still drive tracks and not go to 4x4 parks like our Northern friends
