Mates engine f***ed

Just found out a girlfriends patrol engine gone. All she can remember from the mechanic is the glow plugs are to blame.
Can anyone explain why this could cause engine failure?

If they broke off inside the cylinder i imagine they could do some damage.

Vague description to say the least but reckon if its the zd30 engine the pin has been dislodged from the grenade and its detonated . glow plugs are just in the line of fire -pardon the punn.

If its the zd30 then as above. The 4.2s have pre comp chambers i would imagine it would be pretty hard for on to get into the cylinder. What was his reasoning behind blaming the glow plugs?

Sorry I think it's a 2002 diesel(I assume 3lt but don't know) all she remembers is the whole engine rebuild or new engine

The early ZD 30 DI doesn't need a reason to go bang, they just do LOL.

$4500 later and my mate Patrol is up and running again. Only now he reckon it drive a whole lot differently. Feels like more responsive and says just drives so much better then before.
