Hey all. I have an rb30 with a suspect head gasket failure or cracked head. I am loosing a little bit of water but the top of the rocker cover and cap is caked in milkshake. The oil in the sump is clean and clear still but i have a slight build up of green sludge on the walls and cap of the radiator. The car still drives fine has plenty of power doesnt over heat so what do you guys think.

Cheers

Either way you have to remove the head.

Does it overheat.
Or has it overheated i have seen engines that have been overheated from a leaking waterpump do the same then come good once the water pump was replaced.
The extreme heat at the time it overheated allowed oil and water to mix but once the problem was rectified their was no more mixing of oil or water.
I remember a vl rb30 once that was loosing coolant through an exhaust stud was near impossible to find as it hit the hot manifold and evaporated.

Pressure test cooling system and see if you can find leak this way.
Honestly sound like you have some work ahead of you.
Flush cooling system, VRS , Timing belt and tensioner, Rad hoses , Thermostat , Engine oil and filter etc etc.
You can do it on the cheap, but way easier to replace bits if it's in apart anyway.
Lucky for you this engine plenty cheap to O-haul .
