Boost guage

What is the best position for the hose nipple for a boost guage on a GU4 3 litr deisel. I have seen them on the inlet & outlet pipes of the intercooler.

Not got any idea about a 3.0l, on a 4.2l intercooler there is a fitting at the back passenger side with a small rubber hose on it. I took that off got hold of a tee piece and a bit more hose and used that as the boost pick up to the sensor unit.
Works well and no need to have extra fitings welded in etc.
