How long is a piece of string. There are plenty of V8's that will go into a GU I have seen blown 582ci in them. Probably the most covered and cheapest option though would be an LS1 conversion. Marks adaptors do kits for these but you may be able to do it cheaper if you source your own engine etc and only get what you need from them.

The GU has its issues,if its a 2.8 the gearbox wont hang on and youll need that upgraded, then theres the diffs
Firstly id be asking ol mate how much he wants to spend
This alone scares the cans from the cannots
A drive in drive out conversion will cost more than most GUs
Brunswick diesel do the V8 diesel drive in drive out around 20 large, youd be looking around half for the petrol V8

What's in the GU at the moment? If it a petrol then the money might be better spent doing in up...turbo etc

Tap, crackle, pop

The diffs in a GU will easily stand up to an LS1 conversion I would be running an auto behind with transfer adaptor. My mate has one in a GQ he did a lot of work himself including sourcing the engine etc and he managed it for less than 10k

The vid I have is a GU with a LS1 matched to its (GM?) auto.

It is very well done as is the whole vehicle.

And doesn't it sound sweet, just like a V8 should.

He is attacking a clay hill at full noise, fantastic.

The matched auto has made the conversion a lot easier.

Cheers Macca
