Hi All,

I have recently bought an 02 4.8L GU. It has a dreaded rear end klunk when stopped.

Its driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To the point of despair....

I have been to a suspension shop and they say all the bushes are fine.

Someone mentioned the slip joint in the tailshaft.

They suggested that if I can get hold of another shaft, swap it over and see if that helps.

My Q is, does anyone have one laying about I can borrow, or if you are willing to get together to try yours in mine???

I will put on beers etc etc....

Thanks Shaun

If it clunks when you take off and again when you take your foot off, it's probably the rear lower control arm bushes.
Cheers, the ferret.

Engine mount on passengers side - that's exactly what mine did - you'd hit the brakes and come to a stop and right at that point of the wheels stopping it feels like a thump as though something under your feet is moving ...

If you've checked all bushes thoroughly and it's definitely not them, then I'd be sussing the engine mounts ... Unless you can actually hear the clunk coming from the rear (deceptive when you're in the car) in which case it could be the slip joint or the uni joint itself ...
