I was changing the thermostat which turned out to be a bigger job after a bolt snapped and I had to remove more bits to get the broken bit out then I found this tattooed on the front cover of the injector pump "06JA6".

I am thinking that it is a date of which the Injector pump or motor was rebuilt. Any other thoughts?

Has it been replaced with one from a wreckers?
Looks like a code they would put on a part to identify it.

I have seen it on 2 of 2 i have had .
With that bolt on mine it took the thread out so i found an imperial stainless bolt in the shed a fraction larger the right length and tapped it out worked perfectly.

It's a factory nissan thing i reckon seen it exactly the same wich their is no way all the wreckers would put it the same colour same size same place.

I reckon its a part # from where it came from as I have bought a few things from wreckers and a lot of the have that paint pen # on them, I think it is just to find the price of the item easier. Would most likely be from a wrecker and they would prob use the same # for all stock of the same.

I dont think it is a wrecker number, I have never seen one so neat. :p I thought it may have been a sign of a rebuild, but maybe all early GQs had it. Is there a way to find out how old a motor is from the engine number?
