Cracked head, now a blown turbo!!!!!

Hello all,

First thread was just 5 weeks ago and that was a cracked head on piston number 4. Then last Friday the turbo died!!!!!! When will it stop !!!!!
Completely gutted as before that she gave me 70k of trouble free motoring.
Do you think they are connected or just a coincidence?

Any ideas gentleman please.

Hmmm ... maybe coincidence, but if the head was heating up and making the turbo even hotter (can that happen??) then it could be related - depends on what has actually gone on the turbo I guess.

Sorry to hear the news mate. Did you have a Pyro gauge fitted by chance to see what temps were coming out?

It is odd do you have a boost gauge fitted? Does then engine get worked fairly hard at all? It tends to happen the other way if the turbo dies and forces bits and pieced into the engine then you can end up with damage but id be incline to say coincidence.

Mate I feel for you...I just went thru the same issue all in one month but my turbo went first, then the thermostat ceased causing it to overheat on the freeway then three weeks later cracked head....

I got my money worth from NRMA 3 tows over100km from home all in the same month.....
