Should i be concerned??? Dumped the oil in the diff im'e putting in and the magnet had metal shavings on it and there was one peice the size of a match head,I realise you can get metalic gunk on them but should i be worried about the peice i found??Cheers.
Also anyone know how much play should be on the yolk when i turn it ie: i can move it about 10mm while turning before the axle turns!!

Uneducated guess I reckon pinion is wearing. And the metal is from the face of the pinion. I can't remember the word for it, when the (fatigue) appears on the pinion.
But I could be wrong

If that's the diff you're going to put in (but haven't yet), just pop the centre out and have a look at the gears, easy while the diff is still on the ground. Also rotate the pinion to get a feel for the bearings.
I thought you were going to reuse the centre from your old diff?
