Hey forum!
Its time to put away your carsales ads and relax, I found my car! went for a leisurely 4 hour drive yesterday to go look at a maverick up in atherton with the missus. needless to say it was love at first sight, an hour and a half of paperwork and minor repairs later, i drove my 93 maverick out of the dealership 10k poorer, but a truckload happier!
didn't come with many extras,
dual battery setup (only 1 battery though)
alloy bar
tow bar
tiny hella spotties (which just means i don't have to do the wiring for new ones :D )
and a uhf and cd player, which will get replaced with newer models after a few more necessary improvements.
After a bit of a check around this morning i've found that my passenger rear doors don't lock with the central locking, But i assume that's just something to do with the mechanism inside the door, so i shall pull the trim off at some point today and have a tinker!
Shall post some pics up off my phone later.
Cheers, Brendan.

I'm thinking a lift and tires first, as the tires are about 3 inches wide i'm sure of it. noticed a clunk in the front end just driving around the block before (yes i was that desperate to drive it) so i have to have a look around now :(

Hahaha .. if the same as patrols it's in the rear passenger side panel in the far back - open rear barn doors and it's the panel on the left behind the rear wheel arch (a cavity behind the panel).

I had a clunk in the front end, turned out it was my wheel hub assembly getting ready to move out. Check your bearings!!! A lot of dealerships, and mechanics miss that essential check up. As for the jack, passenger side, open your passenger barn door, and it's behind the panels to the left of it. I can take pics if my explanation doesn't help, but pretty much left side of your boot.

Atleast being relatively stock you know it will be easy to source parts and you will know in now modifying what parts you have used and where to source them from. I do reckon its better built not bought :)

found the knocking, whoever put in the bloody rear rear shocks didn't put any bushes in..... called up and gave them a revving, then just went and picked up a pair of bushes for 6.40$, time to put them in!

What engine did you end up getting?

Brendan56
26th June 2012, 08:17 PM
Haha, hey it paid to wait ;-) 4.2 diesel, performs better than my old rodeo so I think the turbo is on the backburner till I've got it all proper camping prepared. Got a hi lift jack coming and a snatch strap and stuff so I at least have some form of self recovery before I get a winch :-P

Finally got a bit of spare money for tires and a lift! Also since I last posted I've moved up to mareeba in the tablelands. Just an update :-) hopefully get a snorkel as the next upgrade, then the bullbar and winch are on the cards as well.
