What are you trying to achieve by swapping the carby? Better economy, more power?
The TB42 loves electronic ignition for both these things.

more power economy doesnt really bother me as it is im gettin around 400's out of a tank,
i think i already have electronic ignition, it runs of the dizzy and its like a red cylinder and has bosch written on it i think :p,
i have put another post up about turboin the carb

Search the forum for pertronix ignition
you can buy holley kits or do it yourself
The key is in the tuning timing an jetting .
Even with a standard carb a proper tune can make all the difference normally stock jets are overly rich.
Even something as simple as adjusting the float height can make huge improvement.

If i were to own one again i'd try something like an early ford style weber being from an engine of similar capacity it shouldn't take much to get the jetting right and they should be cheap or free lol.

just on the pertronix electronic ignition, i have just yesterday installed the ignitor 2 and flamethower coil with it, and once i finally got it all back together (after stripping the hole for the dizzy retaining bolt :S ) i have to say that i am really impressed with it, i have a significant improvement on high end power and better acceleration through the whole rpm range, in short, get it!!!
a point to note is that with the ignitor 2 you will have to remove the dizzy and grind back the flange that the rotor sits on, but a bench grinder will make quick work of it. I also recommend getting the flamthrower .6 ohm coil with it as i tried with and without, and was much happier with the new coil. below is the link for the coil from pertronix australia, and i am sorry to say that i bought their last ignitor 2 in stock so you're gonna have to wait for that to come over from america if you decide to go ahead with it haha :D
hit me up if you have any questions about install mate :)
