View Full Version : Oil Catch-Can setup advice?

I've decided to install a catch can to reduce that awful build up on the MAF sensor and intake. I was going to build one but bought one from Repco at the right price. The can is a simple type with no baffles or filter inside, but can be opened after removing a few bolts.
My questions are: Should I run a hose to the bottom of the can and install some kind of filter/open foam? Maybe a fuel-cell foam block? Or is the empty can sufficient?
Any advice or comments appreciated!!

do not use the level indicator hose provided on the sca catch can. a mate of mine used it and it went hard and cracked if anything just chuck bolts in and block it up you wont collect that much oil between services to need to see what level it is at just drain it every service and you will be fine.

Thanks Mega, I don't think I'd be able to see it where it needs to go anyway. Function before form any day! I'll block it off.

I haven't seen the 2.8 setup but you should see a hose coming from the top of the engine and going to the air intake, somewhere. The catch can goes "inline" of the said hose.
