Hi There,

I've got a 91 Patrol with an rb30 engine in er. I just replaced the gearbox & clutch fork in er & now her heads blown :-/

We've got a 350 Chev motor in a bus atm..

What do you blokes/ladies think the cost, hassle & time would be to put the 350 Chev into my Patrol?

Is it doable u think?

Cheers
Drea

lol i think it would be a lot cheaper and easier just to do the head .
Turbo it and you would have more grunt then an old 350 chev as well.

I dont think there is much around that will allow the 350 to be bolted to the rb30 g/box. The time and cost involved in getting your head done up or replaced would be a lot less than converting to the 350. In saying that you cant beat the sound of a V8 even a mild one. Both options have ample aftermarket goodies available for them. You could inject and turbo your current motor and if sourced well i couldnt see this costing anymore than 3k. Have fun with it and keep us posted.

like above i say keep the rb30 but maybe get a full rb3o turbo motor as i think the turbo motor is a little different.

buy a second hand RB30 from a commodore or skyline, they are bloody cheap, relly common and are really easy and cheap to turbo. Less stuffing around with the gbox too.

RB30 - no engineering problems.

Ifd you are looking at tuboing the rb30 make sure you get a series 2 motor,

All the bits swap across - I have done it (gq rb30 - vl RB30)

Motors are around $350 from the wreckers - check the exhaust manifold studs the often brake - but easy to get out with easyout
