Hi all, I've been looking at a 2" lift for my 2003 GU and as you all would know there are several companies out there that are willing to perform this job.
I live in the Fremantle area and Ironman 4x4 seem to be offering quite a good deal with there lift. It's $1300 for the job and that includes a wheel alinement.
Thanks John.

Good price mate ... haven't had OME myself, but everyone I know who has them has raved about it, so might be worth looking into them as well.

Do you just want 2" of lift or do you want a suspension set up to cope with options, like touring, or heavy load in rear? If you just want a 2" lift all round with the same ride height at front & rear, then the quote you've got sounds reasonable. If you want a rake, ie higher in rear than front to cope with towing, or draws/fridge in caro compartment then you might want to discuss those options when getting a quote. Rear coil & airbag combinations seem to cause rear coil tower failure, but that's dependant on how much weight you carry or put on the rear coils & the type of off-roading you subject your trol to. The advantage of OME, despite usually being more expensive, is their nation wide availability almost anywhere in Oz, even in the most remote of places, but if you're wanding out into the GAFA (great Australian f@*k all) then you'll probably pack a spare sping or shock, yes? Dobinson coil / shocks / steering damper are another option - more good reports about Dobinson than bad reports. Try Zordo by email for a quote or even discuss options - http://www.zordos4wdsuspension.com.au/

also x2 on Bigrig's comment about OME. Last month I had ARB in Brissy swap out a Dobinson 2" lift on my 4.2 wagon for an OME 2" set up for touring. Total parts cost $1143 (front & rear springs & sport shocks, steering damper), fitting was $388. Nothing wrong with the Dobinson gear by the way & it's going on my 2010 DX CDR wagon shortly, just needed a stronger set up on the 4.2 for touring, very heavy rear loads. Worth shopping around with ARB though for various quotes - I found an amazing variation between the 3 dealers I got quotes from.

cheers

I have OME 2" kit in my 209 GU and they work fine with no dramas. I assume Fremantle as in WA? I had mine supplied / installed by ARB Welshpool and they are very good and had no issues, good with after service help as well. Let us know if you want some contact details there.

I Have OME Sports Shocks all round, OME front coils. However for the Back coils OME was limited to 200kg and as i carry a lot of gear i had a plate put accross the back spring housing to strenghing housing (as Patrols are known to colapse) then put 600kg springs in IFS i think they are. Have travel more than 10,000km on corrigations and all was good.
