It's a 80 channel unit mate.

This is from the manual, hope it helps

Programming Scan Channels

Your TX3100 is supplied with all 80 UHF CB channels
programmed into the Scan memory. Any channels not needed,
can be removed if required.
To add or remove channels from the scan memory
1. Ensure that the radio is not already scanning. If it is, briefly
press the key to cancel the scan function.
2. Select the required channel by using the or keys
• If is visible on the display, the selected channel is
already in the scan memory.
• If is not visible, then the selected channel is not in
the memory.
• T o add or remove the selected channel, press and hold the
key for a few seconds until a beep is heard.
3. Repeat step 2 to add or remove other channels in the
scan memory.

Good to hear you have it sorted mate, that's the main thing.

Could possibly be an older model 3100 with only 40 ch but some of them can be reprogrammed to 80..there was a thread here somewhere which models can be firmware upgraded....I'll see if I can find it

You'll be fine with 40ch mate, most of us still use only 40 so no problems at all. Cheers

ive got a 80 channel but can only use 40 when out with mates as they dont all have 80's so chances are you will come across the same thing if you had 80 channels

The first 40 channels are the same for bothe radios - frquency wise.

A 80 channel rig is putting out half the deviatin (voice) PLUS MAY BLOCK COMMUNICATION FROM A 40 CHANNEL RIG
