Thought i maybe able to replace the brushes so pulled it apart to see this abortion hahahaha amazing it was still working at all.........well it stopped working at all yesterday!

You may laugh, but I spent the best part of 2nd year of my apprenticeship repairing starter motors like that.

It's a bit hazy, remove phillips screws from housing, remove pole shoes, remove field windings, sand blast housing and pole shoes, paint in red oxide paint, check field windings, re-tape and insulate if necessary.

Nope, sorry doesn't ring any bells...lol

There is no doubt in my mind that Yendor couldn't make that starter better than new, but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Time ta fork out old mate!!
The two nuts on the solenoid still look servicable tho!!
