Ok guys Ive got an exiting project about to start and any info or comments would be appreciated I own a 93 GQ wagon which has lugged our Jayco around Oz and also sees its fair share of mud and 4wding, Recently I had a problem where the main pulley on the crank spun loose and I lost alternator, power steering brakes ect This didnt bother me to much as a motor rebuild has been or the cards for some time now the poor old girl gets hot wen she is worked hard no smoke plenty of power and Ive spent a lot of time and money trying to fix her such as custom 3 core ally radiator new head and gasket 2nd rebuild of injector pump in 4 years new (bigger) injectors and a list of not so important mods but she still likes to get hot when worked .
Ive been told that they can get small hair line fractures in the block that dont really bother them except for this problem so you guessed it out with the donk.
Im looking foward to this because I had the privilage of driving one with a fully balanced motor running 22psi of boost ceramic coated every thing and I was very impressed and this is the same path Im looking at taking minus the big boost
Simply having your crank cam conrods and every other moving part balanced makes such a huge improvement and also increases you redline 800rpm with no vibes
The only question I rely have is has anyone done an auto conversion and also due to my trucks age and the cost of this build I have wondered about picking up a gu with a blown 3L and transfering my engine down the track (your picking them up for around 5-8 grand at auction)
Thanks in advance to any of your replies

No replies as yet I see, dissapointing, however, I am currently planning a GU engine swap.....ZD30 to TD42, using the original auto tranny. I notice your post was 4 months ago, have you done it already??????
