Looking to do a full body camo wrap on the GQ LWB. I don't have it with me at the moment, hence asking the Q, but the supplier is in Qld and I'm in NSW. He's quoted me a reasonable price, only $600-$800 installed, but obviously I can't have it fitted as I'm interstate so my detailer mate will do it, but the supplier has asked for exact sizes of all panels.

I guess my chances are pretty low, but has anyone done this, or does anyone know where I can get the exact dimensions without my truck here and a tape measure? How will I go about the bonnet and guards, as they bulge?

I'm only doing to the door skins as I'll paint the roof/door frame and sils, so the doors, rear quarters and rear doors are easy.

Any tips?

If you download the manual you wl get exact measurements there mate. You will be able to print off the car and send it to them

Hi mate. I have body wrapped a few cars. Its pretty tricky if you havent tried before so hopefully your mate has a bit of experience. The best way to wrap them is to give the printer photos and overall measurements so they can do a layout thats to scale. Ive done a couple of vehicles in one sheet (3 0r 4 metres long, 1500mm high). The bigger the sheet, the harder to put on but theres no lining up the print on different pieces. If you get smaller pieces to fit each panel with a little overlay then they are easier to stick on but harder because you gotta line up the print from piece to piece lol.

Goodluck with it. I reckon camo would look pretty cool.

where abouts in Qld, perhaps one of us could take ours around for him to check out. Mines a Mav, though.

I guess he might need it for a while to get the measurements, but quicker with the doc linked above?

What about getting it sprayed? a wrap can scratch and can’t easily be patched where you can easily just touch up spray it if any repairs need doing? Just a thought

A laminated wrap is pretty tough, it will protect the paint work so if/when you want to sell the vehicle it can be removed leaving the original paint. But a wrap is hard to get a good finish around all those little tricky bits like the grill, bumper bars, side steps etc. If you remove all that (like you would for a paint job), it would be a lot easier to wrap

My FIL is a spray painter, but I don't want to bludge a spray job off him because the truck is only an old work/fun truck. I'm only doing guards, bonnet, doors, rear quarters and rear doors. I'll paint door frames, roof, sills, etc in a hammercoat or the rust proof paint that dries super hard. I could probably do a half decent camo job myself, or at least spray it drab green and have olive/black vinyls applied, so may do that if it turns out too difficult.

Yep I reckon that would be the easiest. A coat of a solid colour then some decals over the top. You could probably just get a few metres of each colour and cut your own patches out.
