Worn components, shims/backing plates not refitted with pads

LMAO, sorry but that title brought a smile to my face, picturing myself trying to explain to my wife why I'm not slowing down

Its a bastard when it happens and you can end up doing a lot of damage to rotors and calipers if your noy carefull. The up side is if your a manual with some forceful gear changes life shouldn't be too bad:driving2:

Yeah it's a bugger. It has happened to me. The rotors were a write off. I had spare pads at camp so fitted them but had to replace the rotors when I got home.
If you can clamp off the brake line to that side you should still be able to use the other side. I carry spare pads when touring for this reason, I know a few guys that have been in this situation.
Today I replaced front and rear pads on the GUIV getting ready for the Madigam Line in a few weeks. The old pads will go into spares.
