I thought I should post an update regarding my 02 patrol engine.
My first post was titled (bollocks.....), and I was concerned with a rattle and feared the worst, It turns out not to be exploding pistons but a piece of glow plug that broke off and bounced around inside cylinder 2 until it welded itself to the piston.
I know my car and all the noises it makes pretty well and stopped driving it when I heard the rattle, then got it towed to the mechanic, this might have saved a real engine s***fight, although the repair involved new pistons, (NEW GLOW PLUGS), head repair and while the bastard was out new big end bearings, rear main seal and all the other bastard bits that you would replace unless you were completely stupid,,,,So here I am with an almost reco engine, and a few thousand dollars poorer. I've had it back for 1 day and I'm grin'n like an idiot....I think I'll go an have a beer now.
