Hey all,
I know this has probably been asked a million times, but no matter what i type in on search i can't find a thread.
Are the 2.8tds good engines? I've been after a 4.2td, because i've heard great things about their lifespan, and low down torque, and.. everything.
But its so hard to find a decent 4.2td! But i've seen so many 2.8s for sale, is that because nobody wants them? I realise they wouldn't have quite as much low down power, but they can't be that bad can they?
So many nice 2.8s! haha.

Cheers, Brendan.

Honestly a 2.8td will leave a non turbo 4.2 for dead.
I have heard of them doing over 500 thousand k's
Really i think the problems they have like the head and balancer coming loose are mainly to do with cooling system issues to begin with.
Or the idiots that change the timing belt not using a thread locker on the balancer bolt.
And not blocking the egr off.
I found a 2.8 to be a great little diesel engine it liked to rev i had messed with boost and fuel to get it going though .
