finally finished fitting the front mount i got for nicks , what a job , if i had to pay for the cooler and pipes i would buy a kit as this was a headache and took way longer than i expected , core size is 590 x190 x100 , had to move the radiator and aircon condensor back 30mm which requiered fabricating brackets , new bonnet stay , move airbox, plus niggle numerous other items around to siut then plumb it with welded pipe , anyway its a bit torquier and hopefully gets the egt`s down a bit , just glad its done so i can move on with the next job (custom bar)

No sweat newby happy to help , i can email more if you need them , by the way this thing flows pretty good i only got 0.5 psi difference in boost reading from when i had the gauge line at the turbo compared to now at the inlet flange and very little if any lag .

what boost are you going to run?

hoping to get away with 15-16 , currently set at 13 what boost you using? i`ve noticed around town driving it never gets boosted past about 8-10 anyway , its towing grunt i want for the trips away , gonna get new injectors and a tune done as well .

yea i replaced my injectors and glow plug and then got a tune done. runs fin on 15 psi,, hits full boost at about 2600rpm. what turbo do you have?

dirtaddict

dts standard , 3 inch corner style airbox , boost to me is not relative to revs or speed but engine load , i can get mine to hit 12 psi at 1800 revs if i feed it enough fuel !

Sounds a little slow my gu runs 14 and is at full boost by 2000rpm and My GQ also runs 14 but has larger turbo and more fuel and other mods and is well and truly at full boost by 2200

might double check mine once its back on the road, i have a garret t28 turbo on it is that too big?

does your gq have a boost compensator on the pump?

nissannewby

Nuh that turbo is prob on the smaller side so should spool up quite well. And the GQ doesnt have a compensated pump and i have wound the compensator out of the equation on my GU :)

maybe i got a dodgy tune :icon_bonk:

If its a compensated pump and it is still in the equation this can happen thats why i have baiscally removed it from my Gu before i did that it was similar wouldnt starting making boost til nearly 2000rpm but now i have tweaked its starting just over 1000 rpm :):)

thats the thing i dont have a compensator :S btw here is my fmic set up i basically cut the shit out of my grill and left everything else as is and theres a decent gap at the back, need to change to of the pipes to stainless and yea shes a bit messy atm goin to get that sorted.

hey garrett love the aibox , mines crap cast piece of shit that came with the dts , does your cooler work ok? i don`t think my set up has done much for egt`s , maybe 50 deg , still gets to 500 if i load it up even without trailer but it does go better especially from about 1800 rpm , i wound the boost up a bit ,makes 15 now and i`m happy there until i se how it tows , if i`m not happy i`l have to get the tune i prob need plus new squirters

I do like the way you have mounted that garrett i like the intercooler taking place of the grill lets everyone know you mean business :):). Dirtaddict do you have a 3" exhaust on yours as this will also help with EGT's. With what you have done maybe wind the fuel out a quarter of a turn and see how she goes you shouldnt lose to much as intercooling nets you more torque (as you stated) and will reduce your egt's

yeah newby 3 inch with muffler, i really don`t want to wind the fuel back cause it goes so good but i guess i have no choice if the temps keep getting high that easily ,
garrett i`m told 550 post turbo , like 50mm down the dump pipe , thats where the dts exhaust put the plug hole on the one i have ,

here is my dyno sheet

nissannewby
1st June 2012, 06:16 PM
On that sheet it says it was done in 3rd? Is yours a manual or auto most dynos should be done in 4th as this gear is 1:1 so your torque figure will be more true. It doesnt have you air/fuel ratio so its hard to tell if its to rich or not.

garrett

ill have to find out about ratio but yea its a manual
