Been a while since ive been on...

Been busy finishing off tafe .... qualified sparky now :D whoo hooooo hahahaha finally no more crappy pay and that means more money to spend on the gq.... :D

It was a public holiday for us up here on yesterday and me and a mate went out to kenilworth fora bit of a play.... found some pretty full on hills... i could not believe a couple of the hills i got up..i was absolutely blown away... ive a got a 91 GQ RB30 2" suspension lift and 31" all terrain tyres and she just crawled up beautifully..im now beginning to think maybe just a fresh 2" sus lift, 2" body lift and a set of 33" mud tyres with possibly a rear locker will be just fine for me?? after yesterday i just couldnt believe it... my mate has a suzuki vitara and he got up the first hill with a couple of stops and the second hill he could only get half way...even with me running behind his car helping push it up the hill hahaha go nissan :D

in your opinion would you say its worth the extra cash to get a 4" suspension lift??.... reason i ask is because..there was one hill we got to and looked at..walked up it a bit and right up the top we could just see it got really steep and big ruts and a huge mound up the top... would there be any benefits to those 2" extra of suspension lift?? id love to stick 35's under her....but not sure if my 3.0L carby will b strong enough to push them?? reduction gears?? meh..all too much...i cant make up my mind..... :s

I would be very interested in going for a run up there looks like it could be fun.

As for your lift. I have a 5" suspension lift in my GQ with a 2" body lift running 35's flexy coils super flex arm etc and my mrs has a leaf sprung GQ with 2" body lift running 35's and rear locker and she drives everywhere i do it sometimes takes a little more right foot and a bit more thought on line selection but she normally gets there. There are few things the extra clearance certainly helps with and have been able to get a few places she hasnt for that reason only. I would prob look at a 4" lift get your rear lsd shimmed up and throw a lock rite locker in the front with a decent set of 33's there wont be to many places that will hold you up.

sweet as :D im keen to join a 4x4 club or head out with some people to pick up more skills etc....ive watched heaps and heaps of dvds and read stacks of mags and been a navi for most just a couple of friends b4 i had my 4b and i havent come unstuck as of yet.....but would love to get some regular day trips happenin with a bit of lessons thrown in just so i feel more comfortable i suppose is what im trying to say... the other day i just picked my lines right and cruised up as best as i could with little wheel spin but i was still freakin out a little bit just from lack of actual driving experience... wouldnt have it any other way though....i love 4x4ing :D

Just kept it registered and insured as it wasnt that way when i bought it and at the moment it doesnt see much road time as i drive my gu as the daily the ole GQ is basically a toy now.

oh kool :D if i got a 4" suspension lift would you recommend gettin a 2" body lift aswell?? or not really worth it??

I would just stick with the 4" mate that suits a lot of variables that size lift.

alright sweet as...i shall look at getting all that done at the end of the year :D

will 35's fit under that nicely?? or will i need to do a bit of a quarter chop aswell? which im sort of thinking of doin anyway??

oh yeah...when i get the wheel bearings fixed in a couple of weeks i shall let you know and we could do a bit of a cruise around kenilworth if your still keen?? i dont know the area TOO well... a couple of tracks here and there but stil keen to head out with a pro such as yourself :)

Depends on your wheel offset but it may just foul on the rear but if your planning on doing a quarter chop it wont be to much of a worry and they should clear on the front. If you go drop boxes with your lift the front should nearly be right anyway.

I dont know about a pro mate just willing to get in and have a go you know the area better than i do anyway but if im free would certainly be up for a run out that way.
