Turboglide / Relacement Turbo For ZD30

Hi All

I have a 2003 GUIII Auto 3.0L with Steinbauer chip and Exhaust up grade.
I found a company called Turboglide that states they have a replacement Turbo that will stop the over boosting and spiking problems.

My questions are

1) Has any one used this type of turbo and is it realy a fix for a potenital problem.
2) Will i still require Catch Can and Exhaust Temp Gauge and or any other recomended NADS to be fitted ?
OR
3) Am i better of sticking with the standard nissan turbo and fit NADS instead ?

I spoke to turboglide today and they said there is a Couple of options.
The option i am keen on is replacing the Existing Turbo with a TURBO of the NAVARA.
I know the 3.0L NAVARA used the same motor as the PATROL (ZD30).
Wondered why the 3.0L NAVARA had no major problmes.
Turboglide said that the NAVARA TURBO was limited to (i think) 16psi
Does this sound like a good option ? and would any other NADS be advised ?

I'd be doing more research before you do this. Hence why your here... Anyhow, if it were me I would still keep the NAD's. As a safety precaution. Plus ring around different turbo specialists and see what they all say. There a great mob down here in Melbourne called Rotomaster, I've know them for 20 years almost. The turbo guys there are good.

Just thinking deeper into this. Why do you want to change the turbo? If it just because of the boost spike issues the NAD's stops that and is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new turbo that will do the exact same thing.

don't know about the navara not having dramas my brothers 04 nav detonated like the patrols do

Yes true, the Navara’s do have similar problems, but not to the same degree…..

The Navara turbo uses a waste gate and doesn’t have a MAF, which I suspect has more to do with their improved reliability.

You can fit a Navara turbo, but you’ll need to replace your dump pipe if you do. Another option is to replace the vacuum actuator with a pressure controlled one, which is possibly what Turboglide is doing. Fitting a Dawes valve will give you exactly the same outcome at much less $$ and then you retain your turbo, so unless it needs replacing anyway, you’ll be wasting money.

Thast quite an old thread.
I did take the car to turbo glide but i did not replace the turbo. I posted the mods done by turbo glide the day it was done but cant remember where.
First they put the car on a dyno i think boost spikes were around 25psi.
They then fited a little ajustable silver device to my existing turbo (just like the one i had read about in australian 4 x 4 fitted by a company in melbourn)
Then they fitted a boost gauge to the car and went for test run. Boost spiking up to 25psi again.
He stoped the car adjusted the silver device and of we went again. Long storey short car is now set at i think 15psi.
Like i said i did post more exact details when the job was done. Im not that tecnical.
Did a 5000k out back trip last october and one of the cars in the team was an 03 patrol 3.0l auto just like mine. I asked him if he knew about the mods.
He said he had owned the car since new and knew nothing he had done 250,000km on his.
This bloke drove the car like he had just stole it towing a jaco camper not a day went past when he dident want to over take me.
The only thing to happen to him was he broke his rear wheel studs. Lucky i had a spare set.
