Where's My Oil Gone!

OK, so i checked my oil the other day and found that it is down on the stick,

-the car does not blow smoke
-the car has no oil leaks
-there is no oil in the radiator

im getting confused as to where the F#@* my oil is going.

its in a 99 gu ute 4.2 deisel

Check the oil three times in one week. Always cold in same spot on driveway. See what readings you get. Vecosity (thinness)changes with heat. That changes amount in engine by a percentage.

What sort of oil are you using Kingy, and are you using any adatives.
The reason I ask this is because i had the same prob a couple of years ago after using delo 400 with the prescribed amount of nulon oil treatment in my gu2 zd30.
I went from using no oil to using about 1/2 a lt every 1000 ks. In the end I didnt know if it was the oil or the treatment so I drained my sump and changed the brand of oil I use and now it never uses a drop between 5k services.

How many kms on it?
Engines will use a bit when they get older.

My gq petrol is getting a bit old and uses about 150ml a month. No drama, just the rings getting worn I reckon and a few tiny leaks. But it's great because if I keep it topped up I know the oil is fresh hahaha!

I run shell rimula 15w-40 in both my 4.2s no additives and never have an issue. If it is burning oil cos of wear your exhaust gas will have a slight blue colour about it. Does she run sweet temp wise?

Yeh doesn't blow any smoke, never gets hot, only 214000km on it

may i ask what brand oil are you using now? is it as 'quiet' as delo400?

Hi Trol3.0.
At the moment I am using the genuine semi synthetic oil from Nissan, but due to it now costing around $60 for 5lt I am going to swap over to Penrite 10 Tenths premium 0w-50.
It is a full synthetic and is about $70 for 5lt at autobarn and will allow me to go from 5k to 10k services so its a better oil and it works out cheaper in the long run.
