View Full Version : Basic Information on my Patrol

Hello All,
I have just bought my first patrol. It is secondhand, 10/1996, 4.2l, EFI, 5 speed, 210000km and is in excellent condition. Engine number is: 128299, Model: WGY60YFE, Vin: JN10WGY60AO560273.
I have some basic questions:
- The model number on the id. plate does not indicate to me that it is one of the common model numbers usually quoted eg. GU, GI, MX,..... How do I identify what its common model number is?;
- It came with two sets of keys. One key works in the ignition but the other doesn't. Why does it have two different keys?;
- The central locking system can be activated from either the driver's door pull lock, the central lock on the RH arm rest or the driver's door key. But pressing the remote lock button on the key ring does not cause the door locks to operate (the key ring button illuminates). Does this mean that (a) the vehicle does not have a remote lock facility or (b) the vehicle has a remote remote lock facility but it is not working? If the answer is (b), where is the defective remote lock device located and where is the fuse for it?
- What tools are supposed to be in the tool kit? (I know where it is but it has only a screw driver and a tyre lever)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Rhys

Great bunch om members on here always willing to help out where they can.

Not sure if its a ST, DX, TI etc don't think the vin or model number really tells you that info.

Will look into it some more

No stickers or badges on the 4b saying ST, DX or TI???

You might want to post those question up in separate threads as not all members read the intro thread

Cheers

Gday mate and welcome aboard......... does it have electric windows.. if so, that will rule out being a DX or RX. Im sure to DX doesn't have central locking, so that could be ruled out

Hi Rhys,

Welcome to the forum.

The genuine Nissan workshop manual can tell you what the numbers on the id plate mean. You may need to use the model numbers from the Japanese fitted build plate.

Sorry I don't have the genuine manual that covers the EFI engine but I guessing yours is a DX because there is no "S" in your model number (WGY60YFE).

Welcome mate, it may even be an aftermarket alarm or central locking fob that you have?

Thanks Guys I have discovered that it is an ST !! The next time that I am in town I'll try to get a new battery for the sender on the key ring.
