Just an introduction
I got a an ex mine GU DX CRD with about 130,000km on the clock about a year ago. I had to put new tyres (Cooper ST Max) new springs and shockers (lovells 2" lift) and a chip to fix the appalling state of tune. I also got Wholesale Automatics to upgrade the gearbox.
My wife and I took it to Lake Eyre and Hideaway Bay last year and clocked up about 15,000 Km. It sits well on the road and tours easily but (unsurprisingly) drinks fuel when you sit over 100 km/h.
Plans this year finance willing is to upgrade the intercooler and put a 3" exhaust system on. I am chasing better fuel economy (currently 15lt/100km) and some more horses.
There will be plenty more mods to improve this as a touring vehicle.
