hi im looking at getting a patrol ,
we have a trailer approx 1800kg's and like going scrub and the od hill climb, what would be the best option. thanks wayne

I'm a manual man, myself, and tow trailers in 4th at a max of 100kph, when and where safe, on the open road. Personally, I think 1800kg is too much for an auto to handle.
Lots to research!

G'Day Wayne, jump into the introduction section and say hello.
I loved my auto but had to settle for a manual due to towing over 2.5t. Auto's are great on and off road. This was in a 3l.
So if you think you'll be towing more then 2.5t then go the manual unless of course you have the 4.8l

I personally enjoyed manuals myself but after getting the troll (4.8L) in auto, i wouldn't go back plus the bonus is the wife will drive it now as well :)
As the others have said, go the manual for the 3.0L will cope a lot better
