Hello all, just wondering if anyone could possibly put some pictures of their GQ LWB that have a rooftop 'basket' installed, perhaps with a side awning as well?
Also what dimensions of the basket and awning seem to work well on a GQ wagon?
Thank you all in advance.

You mean roof bars with a basket attached?
My awning is 2500 long and stands out 2000 but I'd prefer the Ironman one who do a 2000 long by 2500 stand out. The extra length has proved useless really, I've always found I want more stand out.
Worth their weight in gold in the middle of the outback or a hot beach where's there's no shade

I also got same as Bordertech 2500 long by 2000 out then I just added another 2500 by 2000 sheet of ripstop using roperail end now I got 2500 by 4000 when fully up or peg it down as a wall/windbreak seems to work well for me as I'm only bout 5'6 tall
also with the brackets supplied I mounted them upwards not downwards to give me that little extra rain runoff which seems to work very well.
On the car end you also should be able to use roperail to make a cover from awning to over car a bit to stop weather getting under the gap.

perhaps consider whether your rack/basket should have a 'front' and a 'back'. We put a ga2ebo on our rack, and the short vertical wall gets in the way. With other loads it may be useful to have that low vertical wall.
If what I mean isn't clear, look at 'tradesman's roof racks' or similar.
I imagine that the vertical wall/lip must make the rack stiffer. That is a good thing in terms of load carrying, but perhaps not good when the rack is trying to twist with the body and chassis?

Yes it does make a rack a little stiffer but the boxed sides and ends are there to carry other stuff and a wind deflector at the front. My rack is all alloy with 4 mounts each side but it can flex a lot more than the body ever could. Got plenty of flex in the suspension anyway.

Got my new awning, 2000 wide by 2500 pull out. Also will probably get the ironman trade rack, pending prices..... I really dont want to have to get normal roof racks :(

I have the 2.5w x 2.0mL on my ARB roof racks on the left and am looking at changing it and putting it on the RHS and putting a "foxwing" type on the LHS. will have good shade all round then :)
