(oh my what has happened to me, ill be driving a jeep soon if i keep that up )
depending on how the mounting brackets are on the bullbar, some can be removed and redrilled , or removed and new brackets made

Actually, I have to disagree... I took the bar off my MK Shorty and we put it on a mates GQ Shorty a couple of weeks back. Fitted no problem with the exception of having to drill an additional mounting hole in the bar to match up with the holes in the chassis rail.
With that said, i dont really know the entire history of my 28 year old MK that i've only owned for 10 months... For all i know its a GQ chassis under my MK body :)

Hi,
Yes I agree with Lkcameron, I fitted a MQ bar to my GQ about 3 years ago and its still there. As stated you might have to drill some extra holes. Good luck.

Interseting, anyone with both who can do some measuring for us?
I was led to beleve different chasis spacing, but does make some sense, as the two bodies are swapped around a bit between the 2 models and chasis. Although I though the GQ was wider on a MQ/MK chasis.

The GQ I swapped the bar onto has coils.. At least on the front.

Itll be a rare beast IF it has a GQ chassis under an MK
The GQ rear diff is centred first, the engine and box dont bolt in , the GQ engine would bolt straight in the MQ/MK chassis and vice versa
GQ shorties are coil , not leafy
The main problem thats around after all these years is noone really know the origin of these aftermarket bolt on parts
Ive several bars here but only 1 that has unboltable mounting brackets, so who knows the original origin of the bar
I seen an MK ute with a bar of a GQ , but home made brackets were required for fitment
