Hey Nivrag, welcome to the forum mate, head over to the intro section and post and intro with a couple of details about you and your car, most people will like you if you say g'day ;)

With regards to your question.....Welcome to the Nissan Patrol, this is a VERY common problem and other than changing batteries is not likely fixable damn it!

From brand New it would have been a rubbish output and unacceptable for the 21st Century but there it is!

Sorry mate, put up with it or fit an alarm with after market sensor and hook up your central locking to the new fob. ;)

Good luck

Go and say G'day mate. Cheers

I had same issue. Turned out to be a door switch not working. Cleaned it uo and all ok

Hi mate,

Not sure if this is right but I think I recall reading in the Reference Document that the addition of an earthing strap can fix this problem.

I have exactly the same thing but mine is locking and unlocking intermittently and usually not at all. I had the fob battery changed and it worked a little better for an hour or so, but then back to its usual self.

I was under the impression that it was bad design of the system or the location of the receiver and problems picking up the signal from the fob, so I would be interested to hear from anyone that's had success from installing an earthing strap.

Cheers,
Rusty

Sorry, not sure what you mean by 'door switch' and does yours now work 100% of the time?

Cheers,

On each door there are push in switches that control interior lights when doors opened or closed. Check to make sure these are ok. On the rear door one you can remove rubber boot and pack with 5 cent pieces to make sure its depressed by the door enough. If these are not working properly you can only use the unlock button. I had it and changed remote battery and had remote tested. After playing around with barn door i figured out that it was not pressing button enough on door. Open a single door at a time abd manually press door switch in all the way. You may find it.

Hi nivrag
Had the exact same problem with mine. Open the remote and check the soldered joint at the rear of the lock button ( use a magnafing glass) mine had come away from the printed circuit board. After replacing the battery it would intermitantly lock. Did a search on this site a while ago that pointed me in the right direction. Get a soldering iron and carefully re-solder.
Hope that helps.

It maybe a late reply but for those who might encounter the same problem of be able to unlock but doesn't lock fully. One possible cause is that the door lock actuator of the unlocking door could be malfunctioning. Repairing the old one is a little bit tricky. Springs are hard to manage. Replacing or reinforcing it with a gun type actuator is cheap. You can do it yourself. No need to drill a hole, use a flat bar as bracket if not provided in the package. You need not remove also the old actuator since you could screw the gun type above it. Clamp the rod of the new actuator to the rod of the old one. Wiring connection is not a problem, just reverse the connection if it unlocks instead of locking. If the old actuator is causing a shorted-circuit, you better detach the wiring connection or remove the entire actuator.
