Hi all, does anyone know if the radius arms on the 3l crd GU's are the same across the years. I am looking at getting a 2012 patrol and want to change all my gear over including the tough dog coils, shocks and airbags.
I have 3 degree castor correction bushes in our current one and thought it would be easier just to swap the arms over as the vehicles will be side by side for a day or 2. Just trying to save the hassle of buying new ones and getting them fitted. I have never removed these things but have replaced shocks and springs before.

If it was too much of a hassle and I were to sell our current vehicle with the 3 degree bushes in, would it be a handfull to drive after the original suspension was put back in??

This vehicle will need to be driven about 300 + kms to get it back to the dealer so it will need to be safe to drive.

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Greg

they will go mate
Thanks nissannewby,

So if they are able to be swapped over, how hard are these things to remove and refit?

Cheers

its a bit of a job normally easier to roll diff from under car change arms over roll it back in etc can be done quite easily in a day with correct tools and someone to give you a hand.

How old is the Donor car? If it is a Series 3 or earlier the Panards are different. The rest should go straight over.

You really would be negligent to give you old car in with 3 degree bushes in and standard springs. Regardless of you driving it like that you are handing it over for some other poor bugger without the heads up to drive it!.. nothing good there.

How old is your lift mate? how big is the lift? You might find that Nissan will negotiate to do the swap for you at a good price if you have not signed the docs yet?? Otherwise you need to advise them that they will need to sort out the front radius bushes on delivery.

a 3degree correction sounds like you have more than a 2" lift and therefore your looking to swap out panards, drag links at least, also your brake lines will need swapping.

Depending on how old your trade in is your Panards will not fit. Series 4 panards are different to earlier ones and will not interchange.

I'd say its a later one as he's asking if the CRD 3 litres are all the same but wouldnt hurt to check this and run it by nissan of them doing the job for you.

Cheers guys,

The patrol we have now is an 07 crd auto and we are going to a 2012 crd auto. The lift i got was a 2" lift from tough dog, but actually went up around 3" and after that I had a few issues with the steering so got a castor correction bushe kit (and I just went through all my receipts for the patrol and found it and it was 2 deg bushes that I got, I honestly thought they were 3 degree so I apologise for the misinformation). The lift kit was put in not long after we bought the car back in 07 and the castor bushes went in a couple of years later (09), yep I did put up with some pretty average steering for a while but the castor bushes made a difference.

Ok so after that little snafu of mine (and I do apologise lots and lots) the question now is would the 2 degree bushes make it undriveable or dangerous.

The dealer won't give me any more for the car with any more of my gear on it than I am already giving.....I said to them give me an extra couple of thousand and I would leave the suspension upgrade, tough dog coils and 45mm adjustable shocks plus airbags and the front locker (arb) in but they said no.

Cheers

Not undrivable but it will have the average steering that you were describing.

Yep you should be right. I'd leave them there, grab the rest of the gear and swap it all over. Make sure you take the locker too mate. You might find fitting it all up to the new one then a caster correction might not be needed.

nissannewby and MudRunnerTD, cheers guys.

My concern was sending this young bloke back 400k's with dangerous steering. Looks like I will swap it all over but leave the radius arms alone. We will only have about 10 hours to change the suspension over and some of that will be at night as well, so really didn't need to be pulling half the patrol apart. I will hopefully be able to get the springs and shocks out before he gets here. Now just have to remove the rest of my gear.

Your info is greatly appreciated........:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Oh the front locker is coming out thats for sure.....the bloody thing hasn't been used in anger yet (don't know whether that is because I am good at not getting stuck ;p or I haven't been in a situation where I do need it.........I think it may be the latter of the 2 I reckon.....), although I have turned it on in the back yard just to make sure it works. This new patrol will get a christening at landruiser mountain park not long after we get it though, just have to try to get the front locker installed before then. I do have to keep up the ritual of an 8 day (to me) old car getting a scratch, it has happened on the last 2 so why change hehe.

cheers

If the ratios are the same between vehicles just swap the centres over.

Thanks nissannewby, Mate I thought about that but if something was a little different then I may be in the shiiite, so I booked it in to my 4wd shop and he is going to remove from this vehicle and put into new one. Going to cost me a couple of dollars but it will all work out in the end.....hopefully. I am going to remove the compressor and wiring so that will save me a few dollars. I was actually going to do the suspension today as I found my original shocks and I knew I had the original coils but........................it's *&%$ing RAINING......aaaaarrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggghh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. This is two weekends in a row I have planned to pull bits off the patrol and both times it has rained, atleast I got a bit of my aux battery setup out last night.

Cheers
