Hi All,

I think I can safely say I hold the record for the worst fuel economy for a ZD30 powered Patrol.

I used 170 Litres to do 688 Kms. About 24 litres/100 Kms. The average over the last 3000 kms is around 22 to 24 Litres for every 100 Kms. EGT has been around 580 to 600 degrees C, boost is around 5 to 8 . This is sitting around 80 to 90 KPH.

I am towning a 24 foot van, it weights around 2200kgs,

Engine is brand new, with brand new turbo, fuel pump etc etc.
No Faults codes and I cant find any reasons for fuel usage etc.

No good at all bud , what exhaust system you running and it wouldnt hurt to tickle up your boost pressure once youve run it in . say 13 to 15 psi will help .

That's shocking mate!
I love bragging about my Patrol's economy, on 90L of LPG she gets between 400 and 450kms! That's roughly 20L/100km and for such a big motor/car on LPG I think that's pretty impressive.

None of that is good mate, crap ETG, Crap fuel economy, Crap Boost. >>>New setup!

sounds like they just bolted it all on and sent you on your way?? Get it to a Dyno Tuner mate for a decent dial in and you should get way better in ever aspect of your usage.

Good luck.

Thanks alll.

Nearest Dyno is probably 2000kms away in Adelaide.

I did some checking today and found the main cause I think. I have a dawes valve fitted and thought I would remove it start back to basics. It did nothing.

So thought this was strange as was expecting boost to be up. The I found to my horror both vacum hoses off the ECU soleniod, with one nipple actaully broken.
So I bypassed it all and plugged back in Dawes Valve. Boost back up, I havent driven it yet, but expect EGT to be a lot lower.

I just hope that there is no long term damage running high EGT and low boost. I cant afford another 12k for engine etc.

I have a Provent installed and really shocked on how much oil came out of the hose.

Mate by the sounds of it whoever fitted your new Engine would be up for the 12k refit if it goes sour. some Very Very dodgy work there for so much to be wrong or Broken!

Yes I have thanks. I did always have the DAWES Valve, but not the needle valve. I was going to order from Nissan a new soleniod and vacum tank. However I have ordered the Needle valve kit instead and will bypass it all.

Over Easter I managed 28.38ltrs/100 towing camper and sand driving with 33s.
Thank goodness that’s not the average consumption
