Just a couple 'work in progress' photos from installing the sound proofing on the floors and doors.
Not completed yet but you can tell the difference with just the first 2/3rds done.

Interesting project and would love to have mine quieter - but looks like plenty hard work!

I'm also interested as to where you have purchased this from and the cost i have been contemplating this for a while on both my patrols. Keep up the pics :). Did you do any decibel testing prior to installed the soundproofing?

Sorry haven't logged in lately.
1) I didn't do any decibel testing b/4 I started to put this stuff on. I can tell you there is a heck of a lot of difference in tapping the front doors, sounds really solid. I'm half deaf anyway but the wife said there was a significant difference with just the front doors and 1/2 the cab done the other day and the rear cargo area was not reassembled yet. Hope to knock that over in the next couple days.
2) In total there should be 3 'kits' from Solavis (ebay vendor), each was about $165 ($149+postage) delivered. But that will do a double inner and outer shielding of the front doors, single pass on floors, rear passenger doors (outside only), rear floor, rear wheel well outer panels, cargo area and back doors.
3) Weight ?? 2.88kg/m2 and each pack is 3.4m2 so 30 kg total? (I've lost 10kg in the past 3 months so that helps ;)

I can hear the music much better the way it is, mate said to get rid of the tyres which make a lot of noise too. Looking into that. Also I upgraded the speakers at the same time, probably not the best methodology for determining specificity, soundproofing or speakers, but given the way this stuff goes on and we are making sure every open space is covered has to help. Used to soundproof boat(s) engine rooms so there will be no little gaps to allow noise to escape. Also found some more underlay that I'll put down b/4 carpet.

It's not difficult, just time consuming as you have to cut for curves and heat gun the stuff so it sticks, two people should be able to do it over a 2 day weekend.

Hope that helps,
Scott

It's something I would love to do, not keen at all on taking the interior out though.

KRISTOFFA... HA! I'd only taken one interior apart b/4 I started this and that one, a '73 Super Beetle, never got put back together again by me. Couple mates came over, one a retired Auto Shop Instructor, and they had the guts tore out before I could find all the metric sockets ! Anyway, one of those 'popper' tools is essential. I had to wait for a week or so as the mate who took the front driver/pas/dash area was working so I slowly put a few things back in, when he showed up it didn't take that long either 'cause he couldn't remember exactly either. There is a number of diagrams you can look at to see how stuff is put together.
