Hi all, just thought i'd post my next build of a 4by so all can see, as you can tell by my signature i have a 99 4.2td coil cab ute, im no stranger to 4wd's ive had cruisers right through to sierra's and even a comp style truck thrown in the mix for free. Any way here is a little bit of whats planned for the next one,

shes a 99 dx 4.2 dx cab chassis with coils all round, ive only had it for three weeks so far, and am trying to nut out all the previous owners electrical gremlins that they have installed. So far i have replaced an aftermarket immobilliser with a high end alarm dissconnected a dodgy uhf installation, removed a sh!thouse elec brake setup, re wired the autron(?) cruies control to work properly and also replaced the stereo and speakers.

I also have a sub tank issue that is not related to an earth problem but where some one has buthchered the whole setup, this is another issue.

the plans for this build are, quad batteries- two for cranking winching and two for aux, replace the dx seats with 2 buckets and center console, install lockers both front and rear, install a boost and and pyro gauge (on order), install a decent head unit and replace the dodgy current set up (done), replace the current exhaust that got smashed on its maiden voyage ( replaced with 3" straight through), custom dog cages as i have two good hunters, custom new tray to be built, 5" lift to suit 37" tires for playing and 35" for normal duties, new diff gears to go with the lockers when installed, and reduction gears aswell.

As i have only had the beast for three weeks i have cleaned up a myriad of wiring that now almost makes it safe to drive the only issue that i have inside the cab is the sub tank but that's another issue. i should have all components for the suspension in approx three weeks allong with the 37"x14.5"x15"
maxxis creepies that i scored for bugger all, but i have also installed the over head console and re run the uhf , stereo ,inc speakes and cruise control I have also installed the 3" striaght through exhaust.

Unfortunatley I work in the industry as a tech and as such alot of things will happen very quickly that is one of the perks of the job, you can see my previous build of a (dare i say it )Landcruiser here, http://www.lcool.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18193&highlight=, unfortunatley if your not a member you wont be able to view it, I have also put GQ diffs and a four link front and rear under a sierra for fun

So,,,,, once i figure out how to post pics they will be on thier way:bananarock:

Just click on the "Insert Image" button, which looks like this: 14524

then paste the photobucket link in.

Well that's if I remember correctly

Cheers

bit of an update we went out for a play yesterday at the powerlines for a bit of fun, which turned out to be a bit of a bugger as my mates 80 with 37's ended up smashing his hub's and stub axles that bad that we had to chip the last remaining part of his axle off as it had mushroomed over the bearing turned out to a night run in the end and was well past 10pm by the time I got home, the patrol came out unscathed but with a few more dints in the rear tank, So I took to the tray and removed the spare tyre bracket with the hope of lifting it back to its original position

there's now heaps of room under there now, my only problem is that I cant get the right pitched bolts to lift it, i'll have to wait till tomorrow and grab some from work,

one thing that I have thought about is actually swithching the pick up wires and fuel lines to use the Sub tank as my main and then using the rear tank as my sub, im not entirely sold on the idea of having all that fuel hanging over past the rear axle, when its full you can definatley tell its there, has any one else done a similar setup to this or am I thinking a little bit to far out of left field, from what i can tell apart from replumbing flow and return lines the only modifcation will be relocating the sub pump to the rear tank and swapping the sender wires, should not be that hard right?

While at my mates place we also wheeled these up to see how she'd look
