Hi Guys,
As some of you will know recently my clutch was in a major need of replacement. Another forum member Dhuck was in the same boat and we were very lucky to get our hands on 2 very good tuff clutches at a stunner price.
Bigrig organised both myself and dhuck to have full use of a mechanics workspace after hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. The local mechanic (Derek) stayed behind after hours to offer guidance as we undertook the VERY big process of the replacement.
As most of you would know the change of a clutch in a GQ is a terribly large and annoying job to undertake (that I underestimated) for anybody regardless of mechanic experience. I spent a better part of the week researching a clutch change and the theory base behind the change when it came to the GQ.
Dhuck and I with the assistance of Bigrig (greatly appreciated) started to pull the gearboxes of both vehicles Monday afternoon about 5pm. Both myself and Dhuck had the boxes and old clutches out by 10:30pm Monday night.
We would not have finished taking the boxes out correctly and in such a great timely manner if it hadn’t been for Derek. He took over the job from the word go from start to finish. So after 3 nights (after hours) we have both successfully replaced our clutches.
I would like to take the time to really express how grateful I am for all of Derek's work and for all the hard work that Bigrig undertook on all three nights taking time away from their wives and kids. I would respectfully say that Bigrig and Dhuck were also equally impressed with the effort, speed and shear talent of Derek.
I don’t put myself in a position to vouch for businesses, but in this case I will. Derek is truly a very capable and knowledgeable mechanic and an asset to the industry. He is a knight in shining armour for those of us who had lost faith in the trade and their practices. He has one of the cleanest shops I have ever seen and to boot he really is a true gentlemen.
So thank you to both Derek and Scotty for your hard work on the cars.
Below is Derek’s details if you want anything done right the first time call him. Honestly!!
Do it....
