Thought i might put this up here if anybody is interested.
Ive managed to get myself a month off for holidays so the turbo build on my new patrol shall comence.
Motor as it stands new is a factory NA black top 12/94 build. It has oil squiters and 28mm gudgens, but has 2nd litest pistons of the 6 types.
Plan is;
Replace sleeves and pistons with heavier non gen pistons
Modified buttons in the head and bowl flow.
13mm plunger in pump with NO compensator
custom intake manifold to promote good flow to all cylinders
top mount intercooler with atleast 1000cmf fan
single piece cast turbo manifold
TD05 turbo highflowed with 18g wheel
thermo fan setup and alloy radiator
Should be a bit of a beast, built something similar for a customer before and made 190kw. with 16g turbo wheel.
Feel free to post up ideas, info, comments, questions.
Will be providing pics of build :P

I would go a 20g you will make great boost from down low plus be able to make some awesome boost figures once on song. Try to upgrade to the larger gudgeoun setup if not with the budget you have to rebuild go to a later model turbo block ceramic coat the pistons etc. Possibly also look at custom cranks i know of a company in north brisbane getting stronger lighter cranks made for the td42 which are 40% lighter than stock. If you are serious about this call people such as Diesel central (swafftec), United fuel injection (in WA) and here locally in brisbane northside 4x4. Between those 3 companies you should be able to obtain enough good advice to point you in the right direction. As you have stated in other posts do it once do it right.

Couple of questions
Why no compensator??
is you bottom end power going to be comprimised using that turbo?
What pistons are you using and who is doing you head work.
Cheers

Sounds like a weapon. It's it for a comp truck or toy?

It will just let fuel in sooner. A diesel needs fuel to make the heat to then make the boost, with a compensator it need boost to then allow the fuel to enter. Most tuners will near tune it out of the equation i believe to get better bottom. Bottom end with that turbo setup wont be an issue if tuned corectly will go quite well.
I would recommend getting your head ported/flowed i have done this with mine and it frees it up quite considerably its all about flow.

Alrighty, As for the motor im sticking with 28mm pins, every one ive built had handled anything i threw at it. Pistons will be hyperpnutic however you spell the shit, and come coated. Not going down the change of crank path as im not looking at building an allout monster. 18g wheel suits my gear ratios perfectly as it will be running an auto, id rather sacrifice a couple psi for earlier spool. All head and machining work will be done by me, ive got plenty experience in that department from my v8 toys plus i have all the correct equipment. Nissannewby is spot on with what he said about boost compensator, its whole purpose in life is just to make less smoke for emisions etc so no need for it at all. plus whats not to love about a bit of soot :P

Are you doing any flow work to your head there are good gains to be had just in that alone.

Previous owner has had the head work done alrighty it was pretty obvious once i got it off, all i did was clean it up. The motor is pretty fast in n/a form pump is been worked and timing set and few other things, had a dyno of it at 115kw not much from the standard 96 but still not bad for n/a i think.

Depends on what state your in, wa i know you need a permit, in qld tho i havent heard anyone get done for it not even on v8's. i love the fact that i will be able to make 3d maps for each injector in the system.
