I'm spending a few days up at Rainbow Beach and today I spent the morning over on Teewah beach.

My two hour window to get around Mudlo rocks was just about up, so I started to head back to Rainbow Beach.

We crossed Leisha track and about 300 meters up the beach came across these guy trying to beach launch their boat.

They were lucky it was a ute, every time a wave smashed into the back of the ute it would lift up and float so it was only the front that was digging into the sand.

Ended up getting snatched out.

No recovery point on front of their vehicle either.

Not sure, you can see the guy in the red shirt swimming under the front of the vehicle in the second photo

I'm guessing he looped it around a front control arm or something and d-shackled it back onto the snatchy strap.

That's the thing, do you put yourself and your vehicle at risk helping them.

I guess if I was in trouble I would like to think that someone would help me.

I spoke to the driver after he was out and he said he was new to the whole beach launching thing.

He didn't need to go so far into the water.

Luckily for him (because the rear of the ute was floating) it was only a light pull from a Pajero to get him out.

Tides are one thing that gets novices caught out as they dont truly understand how fast they can be and how strong.
My brother inlaw worries me as he just bought a 2003 Pajero and now thinks he can go where he likes?????

What they need is external floatation, maybe like airbags????
