Ok well i was thinking about it and i havent actually done a "My Ride" thread, just some stuff in the DIY section. i finally put together a video of the whole painting process, and thought id share it all for you guys to have a look at.

i bought the car at the beginning of 2012 of a mate for $1500. it was in pretty good knick, although the exterior had seen much better days. the paint was de-laminating over most of the panels, and on closer inspection noticed a fair bit of rust. it came with a newly installed(mid 2011) 2" king springs lift kit, extractors and a 2.5 inch straight through exhaust.

this isnt my first patrol, and another mate of mine and I had always planned on giving the first patrol a bonnet paint job with what ended up on this one, so i teed it up with him and we decided to respray the whole car.

im in the process of changing the interior over to black, ive resprayed the dash and replaced both front carpet peices. i also just installed a new set of rear solid windows from patroldocta.com.au they are great!

the list of thinks that i will be doing to it in the future are as follows:

1.convert entire interior to black
2. tint windows really dark
3. Rear quarter chop
4. buy or make a rear bar and rock sliders
5. 33" tyres
6. Make Myself a set of rear drawers(black of course)

all up im pretty happy with my progress so far on the truck. it needs a head gasket replaced i think, it leaks a bit of water i think thats the head gasket, and i will get around to that sometime, i just wont push her too hard till then.

please enjoy the pics below:

the best before picture i could find:

then the car came apart:

Well short an sweet here is what I have done today

20699

20702

20703

Note to all, don't use that gasket gunk stuff this had it in it and 50% of the Engine block cooling holes were fully blocked others less blocked but none the less not good.

Yo Rusty ever think of putting lift up checker plate instead of rear sliding side windows both sides.
looking good by the way, short, coils oooh yeeeaahhh

Haha yeah mate, I've actually got patrol docta solids in it, the sliders had had it. Checker plate woulda looked tough, but I did the windows in feb when I painted it.i got the winch from aldi for 399, it's a 9500lb winch, should be more than enough. I had to modify the bullbar to fit it but I squeezed her just in. Hopefully the snorkel will be fitted and polished up tomoz and the head will be done and ill for it back on. I'm stuck working on this beast tonight we jut put a new motor in today:

Yo mate PM if you want one of these in red or black, rated as well. That loop at the back is NOT rated and will break. Also have rated front ones as well, check vendor thread, but great build up just make sure you have the good gear on it eh
These are the originals too not cheap copies. Buy with confidents

So more recently I've acquired an ex RFS Dean trailer, it's tough as nails, fitted 31's straight on and I decided I wanted to turn it into a camper trailer. However I didn't want ANY canvas as I felt there would be too much maintenance and it's only myself and the missus camping so we didn't need too much room.

I came up with a design, for an a frame of boxed in steel with a hinged door on gas struts for access to the top(sleeping quarters) and the sleeping section to also be hinged and strutted for inside the trailer access.

I bought a bunch of steel, and have started welding the main frame together, the dimensions are 2050lx1200wx900h (on an 1800x1200 trailer).

If anyone has any other ideas for it feel free to chip in.

I've attached a pic of progress so far

just a quick question, does stripping the car and rebuilding it require a lot of experience or you can just start?

hey mate, IMO, i think all you need is to take your time. i clearly labelled EVERYTHING! like i mean bag screws and label each screw. i was really organised and i had barely any screws left over at the end of it haha. the doors were the hardest part to remove, it was a real pain in the ass trying to get them all properly aligned i was glad i only had 4 doors not 6.

Glad to hear that, and btw I have a shorty too, so I think I might strip it like you did.

anyways cheers for the tip mate.
