It's got the 3F-E in it.
From my research, is a bit more reliable and rugged than the later model 4.5, about the same thirst.
Haven't filled the tank and taken it for a good drive to check the economy, but see how we go.
Minus rear bar with twin wheel carrier, awning and compressor, has all the same gear that my old GU had, plus this has a winch and twin battery setup that my GU didn't have.
But for the price, I'm ok with it as the missus seems to be happy with it.

Funny story...

When I went with the missus to have a look, I asked her to get in and out a few times (as she is a bit short)

Then I asked many many times during the inspection if she will be ok to get in and out. Is it too high. Are the steps ok.
All I got was...

"Yes, yes, it's fine, I'll be fine. No problem."

3 days later, I picked her up from work, and as I was driving us home, she turns to me and asks...

"Do you think we can lower this thing a bit?"

I had a 3F carbie and fuel wise 18/100 hwy was what I was getting
The 3F is a rough copy of a Buick/chev blue flame motor of the 50s but good for heaps of miles.
A set of extractors and a 2.5 system will give the feeling of an extra gear, highly recommend
and a slight note to boot lol

Whats not to like its a 4x4 with a live front end and coils all around, all good in my books

Part time conversion moght be on the cards later down the track. Can't justify the $550 - $600 at the moment.

I actually like the full time hubs as the locking hubs are another drive line failure point.

Not having to get out and turn the things to lock, especially when you have forgotten to do it before you hit the tracks or when you get back on the highway and hear the front tyres singing.

I am happy to have it on the Old Trol though. My Corolla was full time 4wd with a centre diff lock switch.

If it is going to be a tow car, then as TD suggested, it wont take a lot of mileage to recoup the cost of the mod

They are really a front wheel drive as when you fit the part time
kit you need to push the centre diff lock button for it to work lol.

No. They were an east-west with three differentials. One as per front wheel drive, with another at right angles for the rear wheels and also the rear diff. The button would lock the centre diff and make it harder to spin the front or back wheels separately.

When the wheel ruts were too deep, I used to drop the front left wheel in a rut and the back right wheel in the other rut. I then hit the diff lock and the car would crab its way along the track.

Already has extractors (I think) and full exhaust.
Not manual. Was a condition of the missus for an auto.
