Mine on my 48 are buggered. Using about 30l/100km.
No code or engine light but all over the place when i read them with NDS II. Runs great on gas though.
Also check the cat converter and see if its blocked

Was speaking to a mechanic the other day. And he said that the MAF sensor has nothing to do with the engine while running on gas wonder if the O2 sensors are the same. Exhaust is as old as the car so may have a good chance that the catalytic converter is blocked but wouldn't that also affect the performance while running on gas.

I know my gas system takes no readings from the factory o2 sensors. It has its own sensor welded in and wired to the gas control unit sitting in my engine bay.
And he is right about the MAF sensor too.
Yeah you would probably see a performance drop on gas too if the cat was stuffed. How much i dont know. Especially if you are used to it over time.

I had a look at the 02 sensor and it has two wires coming out of the plug, one goes to the gas system. Looks like it a similar set up as yours. I think I might be able to get my hands on a scan tool of some sort, just need to find out if it will connect to my plug.

    Edit
No good with the scan tool. Only does odb2

@jay see if you download NDS I for android or for windows you will be able to check out codes etc you should also be able to check out the readings from the o2 sensor as well. I have been using ndsII for a while for checking stuff and it's great to use. The android app will only read ECU . The windows version reads ECU and TCM
Only thing you will need is a consult I plug either usb for windows or bluetooth for android.
Maybe a member around you has one to borrow?
Alternatively you can get an adapter from consult to obdii style as well

I did try a while ago with a Bluetooth obd2 and adapter cable. Worked well on my wifes ve, but did nothing on the patrol.
Will need to look at it again.
