ZD30 CRD Egt
Just wondering what acceptable EGT readings are for a CRD engine? I have read they can be hotter than the earlier engine? I have just had the gauge fitted, and am curious as to what would be the maximum I should look out for?
Thanks! 👍

With my CRD 3 litre post Turbo when driving around town I would be on the 450's. When towing I would often be up at the 550. It was dead easy with a bit of right boot to hit post 600's. Vary scary.
As a comparison now with my Chev diesel withy eh probe in the same spot...
Around town, 150 to 200. When towing about the 250 to 300. Never since going to the old style engine have I exceeded 350.
Cheers

My crd sits on 350 @ 100 kph on the flat. On long steep hills though it starts climbing. I can hit 600+ quite easily in these situations. I normally ease back the throttle a bit to cool it down but reading a few different forums these engines can get up to 800 without problems. I guess the best advice though is to slow down a little in these situations or downshift so that they don't work too hard. I tend to be a little cautious due to the history of these motors in the earlier versions (Di).

Aluminium melts at 660 degrees c. If you keep the temp too high for too long you will do damage. Zeemple!
