Phil have attached a couple of pic of 08 GUIV Fwd/Aft, a bit different in the way brkt stops latch from rotating when in open position but your latch looks correct to accept bonnet U bar to lock / closed.
I raised rear of mine 5mm a while back with no imapct on latch function. May be a bit of Plasticine or similar to check alignment or maybe masking tape.
Hope pic helps.
Edit_notice U have lots of pic to choose from lol

Thanks guys, appreciate the effort and response. I will have a crack at it later today after my patience runs out with my work load for the mine. It may well be I need to slam it harder, but the last drop was 10" and it still seemed to be stopping. i will try the plasticine - think we have some in the cupboard?
Hey there Pee Bee, hows it going.
Just make sure that the safety catch is not causing the problem. It may be slightly miss aligned.
Thanks Pearcey, it has to be something simple and stupid. After 3 hrs plus dropping the bonnet and swapping out packers and getting back to where i started, my brain was not linking with my eyes i think!
OK, after another 2 hrs jinking around it appears the mounts of the bonnet catch have bent/twisted and the catch is bending downwards, so the solution appears to first bend the legs back and then slightly elongate the mount holes to lift the assy up and allow the catch to engage. I think there may be a very slight interference with the s/c case, so the scoop opening needs a poofteenth shaved off. Finished for the day, frustration level exceeded.
So, that didn't work either, the ears of the catch mechanism are snagging on the cavity in the bonnet - looks like the entire cross strut in front of the radiator is twisted and cocking the catch over. So, I zipped down to the wreckers and bought another one. Bugger me,. still not closing. I have put 10mm of packers under the arms and the gap at the rear of the bonnet looks ok. I just need to resolve the catch - tomorrow, truck and i are not talking right now. What has changed since I closed it earlier this week and now - no idea.
