I’ve got a shed full of tools but this would have to be up there as one of the most useful.
Bought this over ten years ago for about $2. It’s got me out of trouble heaps of times and made life much easier.

I’ll always remember the day I heard that dreaded ‘ting’ as I pulled the rag out of the turbo input to reconnect the hose. Nearly put my neck out of joint looking for that elusive nut I’d idiotically left laying in the engine bay. Torches and a flexible USB camera couldn’t find it, had to get a lift home after dark and stressed all night.

A new day and a bit of poking about with my $2 special and the nut appeared, stuck between the engine block and the turbo. Didn’t fall into the opening after all, but was hiding behind it.

Maybe time to buy another, as it’s held together by tape these days.

Excellent @jack _ Yep slide stick magnet so good, one lives in the veh. Apart from retrieving VNT actuator e-clip that went flying (took rest on top of front eng mount) and then just the other day dropped 3mm hex key and picked it up from down behind alternator / was out on the road). F.I.law gave it top me was a practical bloke RIP. Have one on a 6mm flex shank x 500mm long (speedo cable type jobbie) just does it.

Greatest Tools Ever Agreed Jack Mate!
Except if you own a Patrol transplanted 6.5 Chev with a Yanky Bog Stock 8 legged intake Tarantula manifold.
Them deep V8 valleys are worse than the Mariana Trench for loosing shit accidentally into the depths.
My faithful old Magnet stick too fishing down there surrounded by carbon has been likened to a Piranha going off its head on the hook
Unfortunately, modified V8 twucks have forced me back to old school coat hanger hooks and or blue tack on wooden satay stick ends

I bought one of the magnetic head sticks with the straight extendable arm and also one with the bendy stuff and as @MB has said, the V8 seems to have a huge appetite for anything you are trying to install - all ends up under the Octopus. I have recovered everything to date, except stainless. For that, provided I can se it, I have a bendy stick with the push out prong grabs - they open up to about a 20mm mouth with 4 arms, perfect device. had it for 6 yrs, used it once! - but the bit I dropped was a 'one only' and it wasn't an option to simply turn around and get another part from the bench. I would take a photo but it needs 2 hands to operate, and have not eaten enough chicken to grow a third.
Like this one only has the bendy dody and its about 600mm long

I bought this one from supercheap, its bloody brilliant! The biting force is high and can pick up relatively heavy items.

Yeah that's the one I have I think. I did buy a magnetic one with the light however it all fell to bits, too much going on at the head end, but it wasn't as robust looking as the one you posted.
